¡¡¡¡Xiushui Street was founded as early as Ningbo. The street boasts a history of over 1,000 years. It was next to Gongyuan (Examination Hall), Junxue (Prefecture Academy), and the Confucius Temple of ancient Ningbo. Many aristocratic families also lived here. "Land of the North End" was its umbrella term in the late Tang Dynasty.
¡¡¡¡As a well-preserved historic block in the old town of Ningbo, Xiushui Street was reputed for neighboring academic institutions and beautiful Yuyao River. It is also known as "a museum of folk houses" in this time-honored city. Herein lies the Osmanthus Hall built by the Ni family in the Ming Dynasty, the Wu's House built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Lin's House built in the Republic of China (1912-1939)£¬the Henianfang and other residential buildings. Along the street, rows of sealed old houses and broken lintels are the witnesses of passing years. Its profound historical and cultural heritage and precious remains of ancient houses are all roots of the time-honored city—Ningbo. Here you can still feel locals' traditional life-style.
¡¡¡¡Now Xiushui Street will undergo renovation. Its reconstruction and repairing are designed to rejuvenate this thousand-year-old cultural relic.
